one of many joys of spring

this afternoon tucker and i were headed down the hill to play some handball. truly one of the greater games that has ever been invented and played. it is palyed on a raquetball court, yet you use your hands and a smaller and harder ball. if you're curiosity has been peaked, here is the link to the the USHA (United States Handball Association). the sport is also played in the park on a one wall or three wall outdoor court. a big following with the hispanic and basque population in the US as well as a growinng following in Ireland. probably one of the more fraternal sports i have ever been a part of as well. anyway all that to say, that the courts were reserved and so couldn't play. completely bummed we headed over to the sporting goods store and picked up a basketball and went and played some street ball. man i had forgotten the joy of being outside on the black top sweating and playing some good old basketball. i think around this time of year, basketball gets elevated in my head. this weekend they will select the 64 teams that will take place in the NCAA basketball tournament. this in my opinion could be the greates sporting event of the year. no professionals, no lame celebrity stars, just some college aged kids going all out to win and make it to the next round. the games that are played are exciting and generally go down to the wire with and unsung hero pulling of the extraordinary. in the end some of the players will go pro, and the rest will hold onto the joy of "march madness". i will be pulling for Gonzaga in the tourney a team that 7 years ago played the roll of Cinderalla and knocked off a couple of top seeded teams begining their rise as a true NCAA basketball team. they won their dividion tournamnet last night led by a sophomore from Spokane named Adam Morrison. the bro plays with diabeties checking his blood sugar at everytime out and going nuts on the court. a throw back to Larry Burd some have said...
not only was street ball good, but it was about 70 degrees today. love it, if only i could find an outdoor handball court nearby as well. anyone know of any in Fresno....
